Mental Health Awareness Week (May 1-8)

In recognition of mental health awareness in our personal lives and on the UBC campus, the Mental Health Awareness Club invites you to a personal challenge: Take a minute to write down a small, realistic goal to increase your mental health awareness and complete it this week!

Leave your goal in our comment section!

And if you need more ideas to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week, why not some of these:

  • Participate in the first ever Miles for Mental Health Run on May 7th (http://www.mentalhealthrun.ca/)
  • Take 10 minutes to find out more information online about major depressive disorder
  • Send a snail-mail card to a friend who could use a pick-me-up
  • Decide to attend the MHAC educational session on May 4th 4:15 pm – 5:15 pm (see website for more details)
  • Take 5 minutes to reflect on what to do when someone you know is experiencing mania, psychosis, or depression – then write down one resource you can turn to (e.g., the 24-hour Mental Health Crisis Line)
  • Surf the Mood Disorders BC website for 10 minutes
  • Go for a 20-minute walk outside for your mental & physical health!
